~ Matthew 24:13         But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.

Press on with Evangelism!

God wants to use us to call other people to Himself.

~ Matthew 28:19         Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

~ Acts 1:7         He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority;

Press on with Fellowship!

Be Intentional about including people in Fellowship!

~ Romans 15:7            Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.

Press on with Perseverance!

God calls us to keep moving forward as a Church!

~ Philippians 3:14        I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

God calls us to keep moving forward as an Individual!

~ Philippians 1:6         For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

~ II Timothy 2:13       If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

~ James 1:12               Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

~ Romans 8:38-39        For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Sermon Outline, February 23, 2020, “Distracted by Storms”

Distracted by Storms

Matthew 14:22-33

~ Hebrews 6:19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil,
The Anchor holds through the Intensity of the Storms.
~ Matthew 7:24-27 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. 26 Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”
The Anchor holds through the Length of the Storms.
~ Psalm 30:5 For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for a lifetime;
Weeping may last for the night,
But a shout of joy comes in the morning.

~ Revelation 2:10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
The Anchor holds through the Results of the Storms.
~ James 1:12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
The Anchor holds through the Frequency of the Storms.
~ II Corinthians 12:9 And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

~ Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

~ Romans 8:35-39 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 Just as it is written,
“FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG;
WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED.”
37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Distracted by Curiosity

Genesis 19:26

~ Luke 9:62      But Jesus said to him, “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Spiritualism does not honor God.

~ Romans 1:17            For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.”

~ II Corinthians 5:7      for we walk by faith, not by sight—

Addictive sins lead to Spiritual Death!

~ Galatians 5:19-21                  Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Sermon Outline, February 9, 2020, “Distracted by the Past”

Distracted by the Past

Exodus 14:4

~ Luke 9:62     But Jesus said to him, “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Leave the Past of Success!

~ Philippians 3:7-10     But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;

~ Philippians 3:13        Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,

Leave the Past of Tradition!

Exercise wisdom with regard to Tradition!

~ Ephesians 5:15         Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise,

Leave the Past of Sin!

Pursue Repentance!

~ Luke 13:3                  I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.

~ Romans 6:1-2           What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?

~ Romans 8:13             for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

Embrace Forgiveness!

~ Romans 5:20            The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,

~ I John 1:7                 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

~ Psalm 103:12           As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

~ I John 1:9                 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
