I Peter 2:11-25

~ I Peter 2:9    But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

God’s People submit to Authority!

God’s People submit to the Authority of Scripture!

~ Galatians 5:19-21     Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

~ Romans 8:13            for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

~ Matthew 5:16           Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

God’s People submit to the Authority of Relationships!

~ Romans 13:1-2         Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. God’s People endure Suffering!

Endure Suffering Conscientiously!

Endure Suffering Patiently!

~ Luke 6:32-35           If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34 If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount. 35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.

God’s People model Jesus!

God’s People Suffer like Jesus!

~ Matthew 5:38-42                 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 40 If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also. 41 Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two. 42 Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.

God’s People Forgive like Jesus!

~ Romans 12:17, 19-21         Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men.

19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 “But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

God’s People are Faithful like Jesus!

~ Revelation 2:10        Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

~ II Chronicles 7:16    For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that My name may be there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.

Holy People

I Peter 1:13-25

~ I Peter 2:9    But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

Pursue God’s Will!

Obedience begins in the Mind.

~ II Corinthians 10:5   We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,

Exercise Self-Control.

~ I Timothy 4:7-8        But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women. On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness; for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

Pursue God’s Nature!

God is Holy.

Strive to imitate God.

~ Matthew 5:48            Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

~ Romans 12:2            And do not be conformed to this ]world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

~ Romans 14:12           So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.

~ Matthew 12:36         But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment.

God’s Judgment is Thorough.

~ Romans 2:16            on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.

The greatest expression of appreciation for our redemption price is to Abstain from sin!

~ Romans 6:1-2           What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?

~ Hebrews 10:26         For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

~ Hebrews 10:29         How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

~ Matthew 24:35          Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

~ Romans 1:16             For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

New Lifestyle expresses sincere love.

~ I Corinthians 13:4-8a           Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails;
