Power of Good News

Romans 1:16 ~ 17

~ Revelation 21:8

Be Bold for Jesus because of the Drawing Power of the Gospel.

The Drawing Power of the Gospel consists of God’s Unconditional Love.

~ Romans 5:8              But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

~ Romans 5:6              For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.

The Drawing Power of the Gospel consists of God’s Immeasurable Grace.

~ Romans 6:23            For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

~ II Corinthians 5:21   He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Be Bold for Jesus because of the Dynamic Power of the Gospel.

The Dynamic Power of the Gospel saves from the Penalty of Sin.

~ Romans 6:23             For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

~ Romans 8:1-4           Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

~ Ephesians 1:7           In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace

The Dynamic Power of the Gospel saves from the Power of Sin.

~ Acts 2:38      Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

~ I John 1:9     If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

~ Romans 8:13             for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

The Dynamic Power of the Gospel saves from the Punishment of Sin.

~ Matthew 25:41         “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels;

~ Revelation 14:11      And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

~ Revelation 20:15      And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

~ Revelation 21:8         But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

~ Revelation 21:1-4    Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”

Be Bold for Jesus because of the Scoping Power of the Gospel.

The Scoping Power of the Gospel is Universal.

~ Galatians 3:28          There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

~ II Peter 3:9   The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

~ I Timothy 2:3-4        This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

The Scoping Power of the Gospel is Conditional.

  • First condition for Salvation is Faith

~ Romans 10:9-10      that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

~ James 2:24  You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.

  • Second condition for Salvation is Repentance

~ Acts 3:19    Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;

  • Third condition for Salvation is Confession

~ Romans 10:9          that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

  • Fourth condition for Salvation is Baptism

~ I Peter 3:21             Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

~ Acts 2:38     Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

~ Romans 6:3-4         Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

Every condition is essential

~ Mark 16:16            He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

~ Acts 2:38                Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

~ Romans 10:9          that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
