The Necessity for Good News

Ezekiel 18:4

~ Proverbs 25:25; Proverbs 15:30

Recognize the Reality of Sin.

Sin breaks God’s Law.

~ I John 3:4     Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.

~ Romans 2:14-15       or when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, 15 in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them,

Sin separates us from God.

~ Ezekiel 18:4             Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine. The soul who sins will die.

~ Romans 6:23            For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

~ Revelation 21:8         But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

Realize the Reach of Sin.

Sin results from Personal Choice.

~ James 1:14                But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.

~ Romans 3:23            for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

~ Romans 3:10             as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one;

~ James 2:10               For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.

Sin incurs Personal Punishment.

~ Ezekiel 18:4             Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine. The soul who sins will die.

~ Romans 14:10           But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.

~ Romans 14:12          So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.

~ II Corinthians 5:10   For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

Reach for the Remedy for Sin.

The Blood of Jesus cleanses us from sin.

~ Ephesians 1:7           In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace

~ I John 1:7     but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

~ I Peter 1:18-19         knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.

The Blood of Jesus cleanses us from ALL sin.

~ I John 1:7     but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

The Some-Assembly-Required Gift – The Church

     1 Corinthians 12:12-14          For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.  14 For the body is not one member, but many.

What is your piece in the gift that requires some assembly?

How has this gift been a blessing to your life?

Sermon Outline, July 8, 2018, “Answering Satan’s Accusations”

Answering Satan’s Accusations

Romans 8:33-34

Revelation 12:9-10 can help us understand Romans 8:33-34.

Revelation 12:9-10      And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.

Romans 8:33-34        33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

Satan is called the “accuser.”

Satan launches accusations at us.

John 8:44         44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

He is a liar.

He knows how to most effectively press us.

Satan accuses us day and night before God.

Revelation 12:10         10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers[a] has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.

Satan’s accusations against us before God are true.

We are guilty.

It is God who justifies (v. 33).

Romans 8:33   Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

We do not justify ourselves.

God is actually saving us from himself.

Micah 7:8-9     Rejoice not over me, O my enemy;
when I fall, I shall rise;
when I sit in darkness,
the Lord will be a light to me.
I will bear the indignation of the Lord
because I have sinned against him,
until he pleads my cause
and executes judgment for me.
He will bring me out to the light;
I shall look upon his vindication.

Christ Jesus is interceding for us (v. 34).

Romans 8:34   Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

Satan’s accusations may be true, but they have no power because Jesus died for our sins.

We must preach the gospel to ourselves rather than listen to Satan.
