If you are a follower of Jesus, you are called to go!

  • Luke 10 – Jesus sends out his followers
  • What kind of tool are you?

o   sharp and ready for action

or

o   rusty and hard to work with

 

 

If you are a follower of Jesus, you have a message!

  • We are called to proclaim: Jesus and his resurrection.
  • Communicate the Gospel with words!
  • 1 John 4:8-11 – God loves us.

 

 

May your motivation be love.

  • Sharing the gospel can simply be the natural overflow of our hearts.
  • 1 John 4:12-18 – We share God’s love.
  • The Bible is an instruction manual.
  • The Bible is a love story.

Admonish One Another

Romans 15:14

~ I Thessalonian 5:14; Galatians 6:1; James 5:19-20; Jude 23

 

Admonish One Another Courageously!

Courage involves Risk!

~ Deuteronomy 31:6               Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.

 

Courage involves Righteousness!

~ Galatians 6:1            Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted.

 

~ Matthew 18:15          “If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother.

 

 

Admonish One Another Conscientiously!

Be Conscientious about the Right Motives!

~ Galatians 6:1            Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted.

 

Be Conscientious about the Right Process.

~ Matthew 18:15-17              “If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. 16 But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every fact may be confirmed. 17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.

 

Be Conscientious about the Right Facts!

~ Matthew 18:16         But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every fact may be confirmed.

 

~ I Timothy 5:19         Do not receive an accusation against an elder except on the basis of two or three witnesses.

 

Admonish One Another Compassionately!

Compassion is careful with Timing.

~ I Corinthians 13:4    Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,

 

Compassion implements Tactful Truth.

~ Ephesians 4:15          but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ,

 

~ Ephesians 4:29         Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.

Be Encouraging!

Be Realistic about People!

~ Galatians 6:2            Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.

 

~ James 3:2     For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.

 

~ James 2:10    For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.

 

Seek to Build Up people!

~ Matthew 7:1-2         “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.

 

~ I Thessalonians 5:11            Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.

 

~ James 5:16               Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

 

~ Galatians 6:2            Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.

 

 

Be Patient!

Be Patient with Spiritual Growth!

~ Colossians 3:12        So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;

 

~ Romans 14:1            Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions.

 

Be Patient with Hurting People!

~ I Thessalonians 5:14           We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

 

 

Be Forgiving!

Forgive Completely!

~ Colossians 2:13        When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,

 

~ I Peter 2:24               and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.

 

~ Ephesians 4:32          Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

 

Forgive Constantly!

~ Luke 17:4     And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”

 

~ Matthew 18:21-22   Then Peter came and said to Him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

A Servant models Humility!

Humility thinks of Others Before Self.

~ Philippians 2:3-4      Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

 

Humility places Others Before Self!

~ Romans 12:10          Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;

 

 

A Servant models Heart!

A Servant’s Heart serves Willingly!

~ Colossians 3:23        Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,

 

~ Ecclesiastes 9:10      Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.

 

A Servant’s Heart serves Willingly to do Whatever!

~ Colossians 3:17       Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

 

~ Galatians 6:10         So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.

 

 

A Servant models Leadership!

Leadership makes the First Move!

~ Matthew 20:28          just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

 

Leadership provides the Example of Service!

~ Philippians 2:5-8      Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Pursue Peace with One Another

Pursue the Purpose of Peace!

Pursue the purpose of Evangelism!

~ John 17:21   that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.

 

~ John 17:23   I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.

 

Pursue the Heart of Jesus!

~ Luke 19:10    For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

 

 

Pursue the Mind of Peace!

Demonstrate Respect for each other!

~ Philippians 2:2         make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.

 

~ Romans 12:16          Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.

 

~ Romans 14:10           But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.

 

Demonstrate a Genuine Respect for each other!

~ James 3:18  And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

 

 

Pursue the Heart of Peace!

Demonstrate a Selfless Love!

~ Romans 12:10          Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;

 

~ Philippians 2:3-4      Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

 

Demonstrate a Sincere Selfless Love.

~ I Peter 1:22  Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart,

 

 

Pursue the Spirit of Peace!

Be willing to Compromise!

~ Romans 12:18          If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.

 

Be willing to Cooperate!

~ James 3:18               And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
