The Heart’s Anticipation
Luke 17:22-37; 21:25-36
Christ’s Coming is Certain!
Promises predict His Certain Coming.
~ Matthew 25:31 But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne.
~ John 14:3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
Signs precede His Certain Coming.
~ Matthew 24:23-24 Then if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ,’ or ‘There He is,’ do not believe him. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.
All Eyes will behold His Certain Coming.
~ Philippians 2:9-11 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Christ’s Coming is Uncertain!
The Unknown Date speaks to Uncertainty!
~ Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.
~ Acts 1:7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority;
The Quickness of His Coming speaks to Uncertainty!
~ Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.
~ Revelation 3:11 I am coming quickly; hold fast what you have, so that no one will take your crown.
~ Revelation 22:7 “And behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book.”
~ Revelation 22:12 Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.
~ Revelation 22:20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
~ I Corinthians 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
The Unexpectedness of His Coming speaks to Uncertainty!
~ Matthew 25:13 Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour.
His Coming is Motivational!
~ I Peter 2:11 Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.
~ Galatians 5:17 For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.
~ II Corinthians 6:14-17 Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15 Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? 16 Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said,
“I will dwell in them and walk among them;
And I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
17 “Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord.
“And do not touch what is unclean;
And I will welcome you.
~ Ephesians 5:3 But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints;
Pursue Spiritual Strength!
~ Ephesians 6:18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,
