Sermon Outline, February 11, 2018, “Reflecting the Heart of Jesus”
Reflecting the Heart of Jesus
Followers of Jesus reflect Joy!
Joy comes with Forgiveness.
~ Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace
Joy comes with Provision.
~ Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
~ Isaiah 64:6 For all of us have become like one who is unclean,
And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;
And all of us wither like a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
Joy comes with Protection.
~ Romans 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
Joy comes with Persecution.
~ Matthew 5:11-12 Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Followers of Jesus reflect Love!
Followers of Jesus demonstrate a Radical Love.
~ Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Followers of Jesus demonstrate a Merciful Love.
~ Matthew 18:21-22 Then Peter came and said to Him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.
~ Luke 17:4 And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”
Followers of Jesus reflect Stability.
Stability comes from Planting the Word of God in our hearts.
~ Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
~ Acts 14:22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, “Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.”
~ II Timothy 3:12 Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
~ Revelation 2:10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
Stability comes from Implementing the Word of God in our lives.
~ Psalm 1:1-3 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.
