Ephesians 4:1 – 6
Pursue the Basis of Unity.
The Basis of Unity must be the Word of God.
II Peter 1:20 – 21 ~But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
John 10:35 ~ If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),
John 17:17 ~ Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
Isaiah 40:8 ~ The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.
Hebrews 4:12 ~ For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
False Teaching divides the Unity of the Church.
II Timothy 4:3–4 ~For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.
Pursue the Attitude of Unity.
Pursue Humility toward God.
Philippians 2:5–8 ~ Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Hebrews 13:17 ~ Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account.]Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.
Pursue Humility toward Man.
Romans 12:16 ~ Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.
Galatians 5:13 ~ For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
Pursue the Action of Unity.
