Jesus is Greater than Comfort

Genesis 41

Be Humble.

Acknowledge God with Talents.

~ I Peter 4:10     “As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”

Acknowledge God with Testimony.

~ Matthew 10:32-33      “Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.”

Acknowledge God with Thanksgiving.

~ Psalm 100:4     “Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.”

~ Colossians 2:7      “. . . having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.”

Be Wise.

Develop a Plan.

~ Proverbs 3:9     “Honor the Lord from your wealth and from the first of all your produce . . .”

~ Malachi 3:10     “ ‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.’”

Enlist Teamwork.

~ Proverbs 24:6     “For by wise guidance you will wage war, and in abundance of counselors there is victory.”

Implement the Plan.

~ II Corinthians 9:7     “Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

~ Matthew 11:19     “The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”

~ Luke 7:35     “Yet wisdom is vindicated by all her children.”

Be Generous.

Give Compassionately.

~ I Timothy 6:17-18     “Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. 18 Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share . . .”

Give Cheerfully.

~ Luke 6:30     “Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back.”

~ Luke 6:38     “Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”

~ Matthew 10:8     “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.”

~ II Corinthians 9:6     “Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.”
