Hunter Ball Is Making a Difference
Last year after her 7th birthday, Hunter Ball realized she had been greatly blessed, and it was time for her to do something about it. Over the past year the foster children in our community have really impacted Hunter as she prayed for God to give her clearer direction. It was then she told her parents she didn’t want presents for her 8th birthday because she felt the gifts should go to other children.
Then, this fall it all came together. Mike Allen’s wife, Lauren, had an idea for fun nights at Truth Travelers. Hunter had an idea for collecting supplies to go to foster children in the form of a backpack. When we put the ideas together the idea exploded and took over the Uptown stage. Each week the Truth Travelers had a great time with crazy hair nights, face painting, learning about orphans and foster kids, and much more. However, the thing the kids will never forget is the large collection of items each week that will go directly to a child in need. These donations have included stuffed animals, new pajamas, hair care products, snacks, and even a special offering from young Jake Stokesbary.
It was true that we had a lot of fun together, but it always amazes me when one of God’s kids puts their trust in Him to love their neighbor! As a children’s minister it is humbling to watch God work through a child, then that child’s dreams work through the entire group. The coolest part is that our kids will never know the extent of their gifts, cards, and service. Hunter Ball put her trust in God to do something different though… and God is using her to make a difference! Great job, Hunter!
